Byte to Terabit Converter

Digital storage · unit-converter

Convert Byte to Terabit with fixed input and output units, a step-by-step formula line, and reference tables. This hub uses decimal byte units (kB, MB, GB, …) and decimal megabits; the main converter also includes binary (KiB, MiB, …) units.

From: Byte (b)

To: Terabit (tbit)

About Byte

The byte is eight bits and is the usual addressable unit for files and memory. This converter expresses every unit in byte-equivalents using fixed factors.

About Terabit

Terabits uses the same byte-based factors as the main Digital Storage Converter.

How to convert bytes to terabits

1 byte is equal to 8.00000000e-12 terabit in this tool (values are compared in byte-equivalents):

1 b = (1 B ÷ 125,000,000,000 B) tbit = 8.00000000e-12 tbit

Each byte counts as 1 bytes and each terabit as 125,000,000,000 bytes, so one b equals 1 ÷ 125,000,000,000 tbit = 8.00000000e-12 tbit.

Let d(b) be the numeric amount in Byte (b), and d(tbit) the amount in Terabit (tbit). Then:

d(tbit) = d(b) × (1 / 125,000,000,000)

Equivalently, divide by how many b fit into one tbit (bytes per tbit divided by bytes per b):

d(tbit) = d(b) ÷ 1.25000000e+11

Or: terabit = byte ÷ 1.25000000e+11

Examples

Example #1: Convert 1 b to terabit

1 b = 1 b × (1/125,000,000,000) tbit = 0 tbit

1 b = 1 b ÷ 1.25000000e+11 = 0 tbit

Example #2: Convert 10 b to terabit

10 b = 10 b × (1/125,000,000,000) tbit = 0.0000000001 tbit

10 b = 10 b ÷ 1.25000000e+11 = 0.0000000001 tbit

Summary

To convert Byte to Terabit, multiply the value in b by the ratio of bytes per b divided by bytes per tbit. Equivalently: value_tbit = value_b × (1 / 125000000000). Numerically, 1 b equals 8e-12 tbit.

Relationship context

You are converting between byte-based units (decimal SI: kB, MB, GB, …) (Bytes) and bit-based units (converted via 8 bits per byte) (Terabits). Bit units are mapped through 8 bits per byte, then scaled with the same decimal prefixes as byte units. The numeric factor is 8.000000e-12.
