1 gb = (1,000,000,000 B ÷ 125,000,000 B) gbit = 8 gbit
Each gigabyte counts as 1,000,000,000 bytes and each gigabit as 125,000,000 bytes, so one gb equals 1,000,000,000 ÷ 125,000,000 gbit = 8 gbit.
Let d(gb) be the numeric amount in Gigabyte (gb), and d(gbit) the amount in Gigabit (gbit). Then:
d(gbit) = d(gb) × (1,000,000,000 / 125,000,000)
Equivalently, divide by how many gb fit into one gbit (bytes per gbit divided by bytes per gb):
