Kilobyte to Byte Converter
Digital storage · unit-converter
Convert Kilobyte to Byte with fixed input and output units, a step-by-step formula line, and reference tables. This hub uses decimal byte units (kB, MB, GB, …) and decimal megabits; the main converter also includes binary (KiB, MiB, …) units.

About Kilobyte
The kilobyte (KB) is 10³ bytes (decimal kB). Binary KiB (1024 B) is a separate unit in the main converter (kibibyte).
About Byte
The byte is eight bits and is the usual addressable unit for files and memory. This converter expresses every unit in byte-equivalents using fixed factors.
How to convert kilobytes to bytes
1 kilobyte is equal to 1000 byte in this tool (values are compared in byte-equivalents):
1 kb = (1,000 B ÷ 1 B) b = 1000 b
Decimal kilobyte: 1 kB = 1,000 bytes (10³).
Each kilobyte counts as 1,000 bytes and each byte as 1 bytes, so one kb equals 1,000 ÷ 1 b = 1000 b.
Let d(kb) be the numeric amount in Kilobyte (kb), and d(b) the amount in Byte (b). Then:
d(b) = d(kb) × (1,000 / 1)
Equivalently, divide by how many kb fit into one b (bytes per b divided by bytes per kb):
d(b) = d(kb) ÷ 0.001
Or: byte = kilobyte ÷ 0.001
Examples
Example #1: Convert 1 kb to byte
1 kb = 1 kb × (1,000/1) b = 1000 b
1 kb = 1 kb ÷ 0.001 = 1000 b
Example #2: Convert 10 kb to byte
10 kb = 10 kb × (1,000/1) b = 10000 b
10 kb = 10 kb ÷ 0.001 = 10000 b
Summary
To convert Kilobyte to Byte, multiply the value in kb by the ratio of bytes per kb divided by bytes per b. Equivalently: value_b = value_kb × (1000 / 1). Numerically, 1 kb equals 1000 b.
Relationship context
Both units are byte-based units (decimal SI: kB, MB, GB, …). Factors are fixed relative to one byte, so conversions are exact in floating-point arithmetic for this tool. The factor from Kilobyte to Byte is 1.000000e+3 (1 kb = 1000 b).
