Megabit to Bit Converter
Digital storage · unit-converter
Convert Megabit to Bit with fixed input and output units, a step-by-step formula line, and reference tables. This hub uses decimal byte units (kB, MB, GB, …) and decimal megabits; the main converter also includes binary (KiB, MiB, …) units.

About Megabit
The megabit (Mb) is 10⁶ bits. Dividing by 8 gives byte-equivalents for data size; ISP speeds (Mbps) refer to megabits per second, not megabytes.
About Bit
A bit is a binary digit. Here 1 byte = 8 bits, so the byte-equivalent of one bit is 0.125 bytes. Networking speeds often use bits per second.
How to convert megabits to bits
1 megabit is equal to 1000000 bit in this tool (values are compared in byte-equivalents):
1 mbit = (125,000 B ÷ 0.125 B) bit = 1000000 bit
Each megabit counts as 125,000 bytes and each bit as 0.125 bytes, so one mbit equals 125,000 ÷ 0.125 bit = 1000000 bit.
Let d(mbit) be the numeric amount in Megabit (mbit), and d(bit) the amount in Bit (bit). Then:
d(bit) = d(mbit) × (125,000 / 0.125)
Equivalently, divide by how many mbit fit into one bit (bytes per bit divided by bytes per mbit):
d(bit) = d(mbit) ÷ 0.000001
Or: bit = megabit ÷ 0.000001
Examples
Example #1: Convert 1 mbit to bit
1 mbit = 1 mbit × (125,000/0.125) bit = 1000000 bit
1 mbit = 1 mbit ÷ 0.000001 = 1000000 bit
Example #2: Convert 10 mbit to bit
10 mbit = 10 mbit × (125,000/0.125) bit = 10000000 bit
10 mbit = 10 mbit ÷ 0.000001 = 10000000 bit
Summary
To convert Megabit to Bit, multiply the value in mbit by the ratio of bytes per mbit divided by bytes per bit. Equivalently: value_bit = value_mbit × (125000 / 0.125). Numerically, 1 mbit equals 1000000 bit.
Relationship context
Both units are bit-based units (converted via 8 bits per byte). Factors are fixed relative to one byte, so conversions are exact in floating-point arithmetic for this tool. The factor from Megabit to Bit is 1.000000e+6 (1 mbit = 1000000 bit).
