Gigabyte to Kilobyte Converter
Digital storage · unit-converter
Convert Gigabyte to Kilobyte with fixed input and output units, a step-by-step formula line, and reference tables. This hub uses decimal byte units (kB, MB, GB, …) and decimal megabits; the main converter also includes binary (KiB, MiB, …) units.

About Gigabyte
The gigabyte (GB) here is a decimal unit: 1 GB = 10⁹ bytes. Storage marketing and many OS dialogs use decimal GB; some systems still show binary (GiB) labels—check context when comparing numbers.
About Kilobyte
The kilobyte (KB) is 10³ bytes (decimal kB). Binary KiB (1024 B) is a separate unit in the main converter (kibibyte).
How to convert gigabytes to kilobytes
1 gigabyte is equal to 1000000 kilobyte in this tool (values are compared in byte-equivalents):
1 gb = (1,000,000,000 B ÷ 1,000 B) kb = 1000000 kb
Each gigabyte counts as 1,000,000,000 bytes and each kilobyte as 1,000 bytes, so one gb equals 1,000,000,000 ÷ 1,000 kb = 1000000 kb.
Let d(gb) be the numeric amount in Gigabyte (gb), and d(kb) the amount in Kilobyte (kb). Then:
d(kb) = d(gb) × (1,000,000,000 / 1,000)
Equivalently, divide by how many gb fit into one kb (bytes per kb divided by bytes per gb):
d(kb) = d(gb) ÷ 0.000001
Or: kilobyte = gigabyte ÷ 0.000001
Examples
Example #1: Convert 1 gb to kilobyte
1 gb = 1 gb × (1,000,000,000/1,000) kb = 1000000 kb
1 gb = 1 gb ÷ 0.000001 = 1000000 kb
Example #2: Convert 10 gb to kilobyte
10 gb = 10 gb × (1,000,000,000/1,000) kb = 10000000 kb
10 gb = 10 gb ÷ 0.000001 = 10000000 kb
Summary
To convert Gigabyte to Kilobyte, multiply the value in gb by the ratio of bytes per gb divided by bytes per kb. Equivalently: value_kb = value_gb × (1000000000 / 1000). Numerically, 1 gb equals 1000000 kb.
Relationship context
Both units are byte-based units (decimal SI: kB, MB, GB, …). Factors are fixed relative to one byte, so conversions are exact in floating-point arithmetic for this tool. The factor from Gigabyte to Kilobyte is 1.000000e+6 (1 gb = 1000000 kb).
